A fire at a plastics factory in Lansvale in Sydney’s south-west is threatening nearby homes and businesses.
The ABC reports that police have begun to evacuate local residents and about 70 firefighters are attempting to control the blaze.
A NSW Fire & Rescue spokeswoman told the SMH that police were called to the factory fire at 3.30 pm and that the fire has spread from the plastics factory to a number of adjacent industrial buildings.
"There are number of structures within that complex that are alight," she said. "It's quite a major fire," she said.
