Some of the country’s leading manufacturers will be among those participating in the 53rd Australian Export Awards this Friday in Melbourne.
Competing from among the winners of state and territory export awards, finalists in the Manufacturing Award category are ANCA (VIC), Incat Tasmania Pty Ltd (TAS), Digga Australia (QLD), Frameskin Pty Ltd (ACT), Levett Engineering Pty Ltd (SA) and Quickstep Technologies (NSW).
Among all 74 finalists, 60 per cent were SME businesses. Trade minister Andrew Robb, who will present the awards, said that over half of the finalists named at least one of the newer markets as a key destination, citing China, Japan, South Korea and the Trans Pacific Partnership agreements.
“These agreements are also unlocking opportunities for new exporters seeking markets offshore, helping generate jobs and growth in communities across the country,” said Robb in a statement.
Last year’s winner in the Manufacturing Award category was Victoria’s GP Graders, acknowledged as the world leader in cherry picking and sorting machinery.
