IF Australian manufacturing is in crisis as critics say it is, perhaps someone should have told the finalists of the 2009 Endeavour Awards.

Despite all the doom and gloom, the 2009 Endeavour Awards program received the highest number of nominations in the history of the Awards, with an unprecedented 75 high quality finalists in nine categories all vying for the honour to be called the 2009 Manufacturer of the Year.

Manufacturers’ Monthly readers’ are encouraged not to miss out on this key event in what is shaping up to be a massive year for industry.

Now in its sixth year, the Manufacturers’ Monthly Endeavour Award’s ceremony, proudly sponsored by BlueScope Steel, will be held on Wednesday 13 May 2009 at the RACV Club, Melbourne, the same week as NMW (National Manufacturing Week) exhibition.

The keynote speaker for this year’s Awards has also been announced, with Craig Milne, Executive Director, Australian Productivity Council (APC), taking the stage for what promises to be an entertaining and thought provoking address.

Prior to joining the APC, Milne worked as a Technical Manager with a major trading company engaged in European trade.

The APC is a private-sector industry assistance organisation, and it has worked in thousands of enterprises of all sizes and types and offers a wide range of business improvement services in systems management, engineering, research and product development throughout Australia.

He is also a director of more than twenty years standing of the Victorian Innovation Centre (Innovic) and is the President of the Society for Australian Industry and Employment (SAIE).

Tickets for Manufacturers’ Monthly’s Endeavour Awards presentation ceremony are now available.

The gala award’s ceremony promises to be manufacturing’s night of nights, attended by some of Australia’s leading manufacturers and industry personnel.
