The CSIRO has today launched CSIRO Strategy 2020: Australia’s Innovation Catalyst, a plan to maximise commercial returns from the organisation’s research and detail how it will become a global collaboration hub.
A statement from the CSIRO said the plan was formulated after crowd-sourced responses from more than 7,000 people, including staff, customers and the public.
The organisation’s CEO, Dr Larry Marshall, said the CSIRO needed to more rapidly have its innovations brought to market, citing the country’s poor rating in international surveys of innovation efficiency.

"We must form new bonds and collaborate across disciplines, sectors, science and business. That is where profound innovation happens – at the intersection of these areas.
