Consultants’ report says manufacturers more likely to go over ERP budgets

Research from Panorama Consulting has found manufacturers
appear more likely to exceed their budgets in enterprise resource planning
rollouts than other companies.

Panorama, a Colorado-based specialist in ERP and IT for medium
to large-sized firms, found that overall 53 per cent of respondents exceeded
their ERP budget and 61 per cent went over schedule.

For manufacturing companies, 63 per cent went over budget in
their ERP implementation, Enterprise Apps Today reported. Overall, the average
ERP rollout budget was blown by $US 1.7 million, though the average
manufacturer went over this by $US 3 million.
