Auto industry woes already bad for Ansell

Ansell has
said that it is already suffering weaker sales due to the demise of the country’s
auto manufacturing sector.

CEO Magnus
Nicolin said that the sector’s three companies – Ford, Toyota and Holden, all
of which will stop manufacturing in 2016 or 2017 – have already cut down on
purchases of the protective gear that Ansell sells.

“Australia is taking a bit of a beating,” said Nicolin, according to Fairfax Media, when discussing sales compared to
other markets Ansell operates in. About 6 per cent of global sales are made in
Australia.

“The manufacturing sector in Australia has
been relatively weak over the last six to nine months,” he said.

“That’s obviously having an indirect impact
on us.”
