Negotiations between the Australian Workers Union and Arrium’s administrators, KordaMentha, are set to continue today after no resolution was reached during talks yesterday.
AAP reports that the administrators are seeking an unspecified pay decrease over three years, with a two per cent raise in the final year, for Whyalla iron ore and steel workers. The AWU counter-offer is a 7.5 per cent decrease with fewer overtime entitlements.
It had earlier been reported that KordaMentha was requesting a 15 per cent pay cut for Whyalla workers.
The Arrium group of iron ore and steel companies went into administration in April. A restructure and sale is expected before the end of the year.
