As part of the 2016/2017 Budget announcement, the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre Ltd (AMGC) continues to receive policy support and funding from the Federal Government. This nod of confidence is evidence that a prosperous future for advanced manufacturing in Australia is a reality.
Jens Goennemann, the Centre’s Managing Director, stated, ‘we are very happy to hear that the Federal Government maintains its strong focus on the AMGC. It reinforces our mission to ensure this sector receives the necessary attention in order to grow and make it more globally competitive.’
Established in 2015, the AMGC operates to drive global competitiveness, improve productivity and lift the innovative capacity of firms in the advanced manufacturing sector by linking Australian manufacturers with global supply chains.
Members of the AMGC work together to create joint projects which benefit large multinationals looking for niche and agile partners. While at the same time, local Australian businesses access a greater scale of global opportunities. Research organisations and universities contribute their know-how as a way to enable tighter integration between industry and research institutions.
The broader AMGC impact not only focuses on better industry-led export opportunities, greater skills deployment and a closer look at regulatory improvements, it significantly lifts the advanced manufacturing contribution across the economy.
