Alexium gains Chinese patent, access to huge textile market

Alexium Group Limited announced this morning that China has granted a patent application for one of the company’s technologies.

The patent was granted for “Method for Attachment of Silicon-containing Compounds to a Surface and for Synthesis of Hypervalent Silicon-compounds”, which is a “method for chemically attaching one or more silicon-containing compounds to a substrate” and is useful in textile coating.

Chinese textile exports make up nearly 30 per cent of the global market share.

“The growing IP portfolio is strengthening Alexium’s ability to expand into key markets around the globe,” said CEO Nicholas Clark in a statement.

“Combined with improving financials and the commercial roll-out of its novel flame retardant chemistry, Alexium is well positioned for a very successful year.”
