The Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) Defence Council has signed MOUs with the Defence Teaming Centre (DTC) and the Australian Industry and Defence Network (AIDN National) to collaborate on developing the capacity of small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in the defence industry.
The agreements will see the organisations work closely together in an effort to improve the competitiveness of the defence industry in Australia, alongside developing greater SME involvement in the sector, the Ai Group announced on Friday.
The agreements will also see DTC and AIDN National formally join Ai Group’s Defence Council National Executive. The Ai Group Defence Council is the peak national representative body for the Australian defence industry.
DTC is a nationally-focused member organisation which aims at connecting and supporting the Australian defence industry in its participation in domestic and global markets and supply chains.
AIDN is the peak industry association for SMEs working within the defence and security industry, and provides advocacy, representation and other member services.
Andy Keough, chair of the Ai Group Defence Council, said that both DTC and AIDN would help the Council in its objective of supporting SMEs within the defence industry.
“Supporting our SMEs is one of the most important objectives of Ai Group’s Defence Council, which is why I am pleased to be working with both AIDN National and the DTC. Both these organisations have proud records supporting and promoting SMEs in the Defence industry,” Andy Keough, Chair of the Ai Group Defence Council said today.
“In particular I look forward to collaborating with our partners on the development of our new Defence SME Forum, which is in the planning stages, and will be focussed on SME policy development for the benefit of our locally-based defence companies.”
The Deputy Chair of the Ai Group Defence Council and SME representative, Chris Williams, said: “These initiatives are designed to support the Federal Government’s investment in defence projects and will help ensure SMEs are deeply engaged in this national endeavour.”
