Toyota has issued two recalls this week, cumulatively affecting 3.37 million cars worldwide.
AAP reports that 1.43 million vehicles were recalled over possible problems with cracking in airbag inflators. These were made between October 2008 and April 2012 and were Prius hybrid, Prius plu-in and Lexus CT200h models.
A further 2.87 million cars were recalled over emissions control units. These units might also be prone to cracks, leading to possible fuel leaks, and affected Prius, Auris and Corolla models built between 2006 and 2015, according to Reuters.
There was some overlap of the two recalls among Prius vehicles, with about 932,000 affected by both recalls, AP notes.
The airbag problem is unrelated to previous Takata airbag recalls affecting Toyota. The airbags this time around were made by Stockholm, Sweden-based Autoliv.
