The Queensland Government has announced a new round of funding aimed at regional small businesses.
The funding from the Queensland Small Business Strategy will see small businesses–looking to scale up, improve services, increase productivity or transition from small to medium size–share in over $2.2 million in funding.
The latest round of funding will support the purchase of a variety of equipment – from specialist cranes and advanced 3D printers to laser cutting platforms and welding systems.
The Queensland Government provides a range of grant programs to support small businesses at different stages of growth to increase key capabilities, embrace innovation, and capitalise on high-growth opportunities.
Existing grants programs are:
- Business Basics grants (up to $7,500) – for new and emerging businesses to increase core skills and adopt best practice.
- Business Boost grants (up to $20,000) – for small businesses to enhance their efficiency and productivity, and;
- Business Growth Fund grants (up to $75,000) – for small and medium-sized businesses to purchase specialised equipment.
Speaking in Mackay, Employment and Small Business minister Lance McCallum visited one of two local small businesses looking to scale up for the state’s Big Build.
“The Miles Labor Government is proud to back Queensland small businesses with record levels of funding and support so they can do what they do best – create jobs and grow our economy,” said McCallum.
Engineered Designs and Certifications (EDC) can now take on an additional cadet thanks to the $72,800 grant from the Business Growth Fund.
They’re also using the funds to purchase a coordinate measuring machine arm, allowing the business to grow their Precision Measuring division.
