New fund to eliminate waste to landfill

THE HazWaste Fund was established by the Victorian Government in January last year in order to eradicate high-hazard waste disposal to landfill by 2020.

Available for companies that generate high-hazard waste, the fund is designed to support innovations and technologies that eliminate the generation and landfilling of waste.

Micke Bourke, Chairman, EPA (Environment Protection Authority) Victoria, said the fund was created to encourage business to transform hazardous waste from a business cost into a resource opportunity.

“We want companies to recognise that there is value in waste and we invite businesses to discuss ideas for waste elimination with the EPA so we can find sustainable waste disposal solutions together.”
