New $75m concrete-pipe plant for Ipswich

International concrete manufacturer Holcim will build a $75m concrete-pipe plant on a 20-hectare site in the southeast Queensland industrial estate of Ipswich.

Formerly Readymix, Holcim’s new plant will sit on the 500-hectare Swanbank Enterprise Park in Ipswich, which was formerly mining land.

According to a report by the Brisbane Times, a master plan has been prepared for the Swanbank Enterprise Park and construction of the concrete pipe will start early next year, pending approval from Ipswich City Council.

The new plant is part of a $100m investment by the international concrete manufacturer, and building of the plant is estimated to employ 250 people. Once in operation, the concrete plant is expected to employ more than 130 people.

News of the new plant construction is a positive sign for Queensland’s largest industrial area, which has experienced a string of factory closures this past year.

The Swanbank Enterprise Park will compromise of general industry land and business park land.
