MTU Detroit Diesel Australia to open $30m Perth facility

Evidence of support for the mining and resources industry in Western Australia will be showcased next week when the Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Norman Moore, opens MTU Detroit Diesel Australia’s Perth facility on Thursday 13 May 2010.

The 31,000-square-metre development will bring the latest innovation and expertise in diesel/gas engines and power systems together, in a purpose-built facility worth over $30 million, according to MTU Detroit Diesel.

The facility will feature a large-engine remanufacturing centre, an advanced multi-purpose product test centre and 22 drive-through truck bays.

The building has been designed to provide the highest level of support to the company’s clients in the mining and resources, marine, defence and on-highway markets, the company claims.

A training facility will form part of the new building to provide ongoing training for customers, staff and apprentices, as well as product and competency training for Navy electricians and diesel fitters.

MTU Detroit Diesel Australia is a local distributor of diesel and gas engines and power systems. The company represents power systems brands such as MTU, Detroit Diesel, Mercedes-Benz and Allison Transmission.
