FAMILY owned car components manufacturer, Teson Trims, is just one of the latest victims in Australia’s struggling automotive industry.
Over 100 jobs are at risk across its Euroa and Mitcham plants as the Victorian company goes into administration.
The company, with manufacturers automotive components including door inserts, kick panels and spare wheel covers, will keep trading while the administrator spends the next four to five weeks trying to find a buyer.
The Victorian Secretary of the National Union of Workers, Antony Thow said the announcement was “a timely reminder of the critical threat facing Australia’s automotive industry”.
“A small regional town like Euroa will be alarmed by this news. The Teson Trims plant (about 130 jobs) was the town’s main employer.”
“There would be many other small local businesses dependant on the biggest operation in town,” he said.
Founded in 1938, the company’s clients included world renowned names such as Renault, Volkswagen, Ford and AMI, the forerunner to Toyota.
