Modicon programmable controller

NEW from Schneider Electric, the Modicon M340 programmable controller is powerful and innovative. It responds to the complex demands of machine manufacturers and, like its predecessors, is configured with Unity Pro.

The Modicon M340 complements Schneider’s Modicon Premium (medium to large controllers) and Quantum (large to extra large controllers) for industry and infrastructures.

The Modicon M340 has a boolean processing capability and also handles fixed and floating decimal calculations with little effort. With 4MB of internal memory the it can manage applications up to 70 thousand instructions and up to 256kB of data.

The processor integrates a USB port and two communication ports for CANopen, Ethernet and/or Modbus. Modicon M340 draws on the experience of Telemecanique in counting, positioning and regulation, allowing specific requirements to be expressed efficiently and simply.

Data is automatically backed up on the internal Flash memory and no battery is required, so maintenance is drastically reduced, alternatively applications can be automatically backed up on a SD Card.

This card’s “Plug & Load” technology enables easy updating of your application, and the ability to transfer your application onto other machines with no disruption of operation. Data and maintenance files can be stored and easily accessed from a PC or by simple “drag-and-drop” via FTP client from the SD Card.

Modicon M340 can be programmed via USB port or Ethernet. Machines can be remotely monitored in complete security via modem or standard ADSL link. The embedded Web server allows the operator to program on-line, transfer programs, access data files and manage remote operations and diagnostics.

Its compact size means the Modicon M340 can fit easily into tight spaces. It is flexible, with rack configurations of 4 to 12 modules, and a maximum density of 64 channels per module. Each module is “hot swap” designed and automatically reconfigured by the CPU at replacement.

Modicon M340 adapts easily to severe industrial environments exceeding IEC standards. In addition, it conforms to the RoHS European Directive on environment protection.
