Medical Australia secures new product supply contracts cluster worth $1.5m

Medical device manufacturer Medical Australia has secured several new product supply contracts worth a total value of up to A$1.5 million (in annual revenue for the 2012 financial year).

According to a report by Proactive Investors Australia, the new contracts include:

  • A new product supply agreement with Australian private hospital operator Healthscope for an initial period of one year – the new contract is in addition to the Healthscope contract announced in April this year;
  • A contract to supply intravenous consumables and surgical irrigation products to Epworth Private Hospital on an on-going basis’
  • A supply agreement with Vic Ambulance to provide lifesaving intravenous consumables;
  • A contract to supply new innovative burette technology to Concord Repatriation and General Hospital; and
  • Product supply arrangements with Melbourne Health (17 hospitals), Austin and Repatriation Hospitals (2 hospitals), Eastern Health (3 hospitals), Saint Vincent’s and Mercy Private Group (3 hospitals), and Cabrini Health Group Network (6 hospitals).

According to Medical Australia chief executive officer Mark Donnison, the new agreements will drive organic growth opportunities for the manufacturer through new product developments, supply agreements, international expansion, and new and original equipment manufacturer agreements.

The company also secured smaller supply agreements with Mater South Brisbane, Princess Margaret Hospital in Western Australia, Mater North Sydney, Macquarie University Teaching Hospital, North Middlesex NHS Trust in the UK, and NSW Ambulance, according to the report.

Formerly BMDi TUTA Healthcare, the ASX-listed Medical Australia develops, manufactures and distributes medical devices and equipment to the healthcare industry.

In the medical devices market, the company specialises in intravenous (IV) systems; safety in injection, collection and destruction; blood banking; surgical products and anaesthesia products.

Its portfolio of companies includes TUTA Healthcare, TUTA Vet and Clements Medical Equipment.
