Manufacturing’s night of nights: 2013 Endeavour Awards

The time to get your nominations for this year’s Endeavour awards is almost finished.

Celebrating its tenth year of recognising the best practices and people in the manufacturing industry, this year’s awards are set to be the biggest yet.

At a time when there is a lot of negativity around the industry’s future it is more important than ever to recognise best practice and those that are striving ahead despite the odds.

Independently judged, the Endeavours recognise the essential role manufacturing plays in Australia’s economy and is the only national awards program specifically for Australia’s manufacturing industry.

So you’ve got to be in it to win it, and luckily nomination is both free and easy, simply fill out and submit the online form.

All finalists receive two complimentary tickets to the gala dinner to be held in Melbourne.

There are thirteen different categories celebrating the achievements of some of Australia’s manufacturing best.

Australian Consumer or Trade Product of the year is a category for new, innovative Australian-made products designed for either consumer or trade applications.

Enterprise Connect Significant Achievement  recognises manufacturers who have made a significant achievement in productivity, competitiveness or innovative capability since completing their Enterprise Connect Business Review and Tailored Advisory Service project(s). (This award is for Enterprise Connect clients only.)

For the rising stars of Australia's next generation of manufacturers, the Young Manufacturer of the year is a highly competitive and hotly contested section of the night.

Recognising Australian ingenuity and farsightedness is the Most Innovative Company Award. It is designed to recognise a manufacturer in Australia that has thought 'outside the box' to implement a new business idea.

This could be shown in the form of new, pioneering technology, superior service to customers, or added value to Australia's manufacturing sector.

Increasing efficiency and utilising the best technology in manufacturing operations is more important than ever, the Technology Application category seeks out those who have raised the tech bar and as a result realised their competitive advantage.

The industry benefits immeasurably from those who show commitment and passion, thus Lifetime Achievement recognises a person who has made a significant individual contribution to Australia's manufacturing industry.

Operational safety is of course number one priority, so the successful implementation of safety schemes or improvement of safety processes in manufacturing plants deserves to be rewarded, hence the safety scheme section of the night.

The growing importance of a global supply chain network in manufacturing cannot be ignored, this involves integrating the most efficient practices and manufacturing where it makes most sense, thinking globally is very important for the future of Australia’s manufacturing sector.

Manufacturing has come a long way in terms of environmentally friendly activities, and although the sector hasn’t reached absolute perfection as yet it is well on the way, so progress and solution orientated thinking goes a long way in the Environmental Solution category which acknowledges the successful implementation of solutions designed to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing operations.

Finding and entering a new market is hard work, it takes a lot of research and risk; the Exporter Award distinguishes those who successfully entered or developed an export market with a new or existing locally-made product.

Steel is a key segment of Australia’s manufacturing industry, finding new ways to develop steel or use steel in projects is important, the Australian Steel Innovation award salutes the innovative production or use of Australian made steel in projects or processes.

The ground breaking and inventive is almost always exciting, especially when it comes to rewarding Australian made products in industrial applications, this year’s Industrial Product section will be no different, from the novel to the pioneering the products people and companies come up with spark curiosity and will draw your attention.

If you think you know of a company or person that’s got what it takes be sure to enter this year’s Endeavours.
