Manufacturing Skills Queensland announces new chair of the board, and new board directors

Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) has welcomed the appointment of two new board directors and announced the appointment of a new Chair – Paul Cooper.

Cooper has more than 25 years’ experience in board positions in government, manufacturing, education, professional associations, health, and accounting in Australia and internationally.

Cooper is currently chair at Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre Ltd and has held positions as chair of audit and risk committees, deputy chair of the Export Council of Australia Ltd, and is the current owner and executive Chair of Rinstrum, an industrial electronics manufacturing company.

“I’m honoured to be appointed to the role of MSQ’s new Chair of the Board, and I’m delighted to join a diverse Board reflective of Queensland’s vibrant and dynamic industry,” said Cooper.

“Manufacturing has a long legacy in our state and is critical to our economy – and developing a highly skilled workforce is vital for future growth.”

“With a deep understanding of governance and strategy, I look forward to guiding MSQ’s vision to build a sustainably skilled workforce,” continued Cooper.

Along with Cooper, two new directors will join MSQ’s Board—Stacey Schinnerl of Australian Workers’ Union and Sheree Taylor of BlueScope Steel.

The new appointments provide expertise and insights for the organisation which has been established to build a future-proofed and skilled workforce for manufacturing in Queensland.

CEO of MSQ, Rebecca Andrews, said, “The appointment of Paul, Stacey and Sheree will bring additional expertise to the board in the areas of manufacturing, skills development, and governance.”

“This diverse and experienced board will continue to bring strong strategic leadership and governance to MSQ, providing clear guidance to not only ensure the future success of the organisation but also the future success of the industry.”
