The quarterly job vacancies survey from the Australian Bureau of Statistics found a significant fall in the overall number of job vacancies.
The total vacancies for November 2012 were 166,800, reports Sky News, down 6.9 per cent on the August quarter’s results.
Private sector vacancies had fallen nine per cent in the last year. Overall, Australian had 166,000 job vacancies for the month, compared to 193,000 two years previous.
In the manufacturing sector, there were 2,000 fewer vacancies compared to last year. Fairfax Media said that, “There are fewer manufacturing jobs on offer than at any time in the past decade.”
