In a recent column for Manufacturers’ Monthly, University of Wollongong’s Professor Geoffrey Spinks highlights Australia’s track record for innovation, diversity, specialisation and human skills.
“Australia has the skills and capacity to be a global leader in highly specialised niche manufacturing, delivering high quality products and providing high quality jobs. We have done it before, and we can do it again,” says Spinks.
In partnership with Siemens PLM, Manufacturers’ Monthly is organising an exclusive event to give senior industry executives a fresh perspective on the changing face of manufacturing and the technologies available to them.
At the event, University of Technology, Sydney’s Business School Dean, Professor Roy Green (pictured alongside), will deliver key insights into the manufacturing industry.
He has long been promoting the view that knowledge-based manufacturing, more intelligent use of our resources and entrepreneurship are vital to Australia’s future prosperity.
"We cannot afford not to be part of manufacturing globally," says Green. He believes a very good way of creating value is through knowledge-based manufacturing. It needs more than business improvement – it needs transformation.
A select group of senior manufacturing executives will meet with Professor Roy Green, senior executives from Siemens PLM and John Immelman, former MD of Endress+Hauser. The group will explore some of the challenges facing the industry and share ideas about possible solutions.
