A SERIES of lightning-fast sequence of events (SOE) modules are now available from Rockwell Automation. The Allen-Bradley SOEs feature sub-millisecond resolution for first-event detection and sequence of event data capture for event cascades.
This makes the integrated ControlLogix SOE modules ideal for substation automation and emergency shutdown systems, and any application for which change-of-state data improves capability to view, diagnose and optimise process sequence and effectiveness.
Each of the 24V and 125V dc SOE modules (1756-IB16ISOE and 1756-IH16ISOE) offer two data-capture modes–‘coordinated system time per-point’ (CST) and ‘first-in/first-out’ (FIFO).
CST mode provides two time-stamps per input point–for on/off and off/on–making it ideal for first-fault detection and determining the order of a sequence of transitions.
When configured in FIFO mode, a 160-point transition buffer can be read-out of the module, providing multiple transaction data for high-level fault tracing and analysis.
Allen-Bradley SOE modules fit straight into a ControlLogix rack, expanding the input time-stamping capability of standard input modules, from per-module to per-channel, across 16 channels.
Combined with a 1756HP GPS card from Rockwell Automation Encompass partner, HiProm, this brings a coordinated, real-time time-stamping capability to geographically distributed systems.
