WITH measuring ranges from 30mm to several metres, three Allen-Bradley laser distance sensors from Rockwell Automation deliver non-contact solutions for error proofing, inspection, positioning, and measurement applications.
The 45BRD sensor has a sensing range of 45mm to 85mm. Designed for maximum ease of use, it requires no user adjustment and its 0 to 10V dc analogue output is scaled linearly over the entire sensing range.
The 45BPD sensor offers two selectable sensing ranges of 30mm to 100mm and 80 to 300mm. During set-up, ‘teach-in’ buttons located conveniently on top of the sensor establish the set-points within these ranges.
The laser can be disabled during operation, while a lock-out mechanism prevents tampering with the set-points.
The 45BPD features a discrete PNP output and also a 4-20mA analogue output, which is automatically scaled between the set-points. An averaging algorithm permits reliable detection of rough surfaces.
Both the BRD and BPD sensors employ a visible red class 2 laser that simplifies alignment in small part detection and measurement applications.
Featuring both class 1 and 2 lasers, the 45CPD sensor is ideal for longer distance measurements from 0.2m to 6m. It utilises a class 1 eye-safe infra-red laser during operation, and a visible red class 2 laser for alignment during set-up.
Like the 45BPD, it incorporates ‘teach-in’ buttons for easy set-up. It also features two discrete PNP outputs and a 4-20mA analogue output.
With each enclosed in a self-contained IP67 housing, the laser measuring sensors are ideal for a wide variety of industrial sensing applications.
These include distance measurement, part profiling, thickness measurement, error proofing, inspection, verifying material position, hole-depth, warpage and part positioning.
The long-distance 45CPD is also suitable for stack-level, roll diameter, web winding/unwinding, long stand-off distance in hot or limited spaces, level monitoring and box-width measurements.
