LANXESS takes out 2011 global supplier award

LANXESS Semi-Crystalline Products business unit has been recognised as the best supplier of high-performance plastics by MANN+HUMME.

The German chemical company received the 2011 Global Supplier Award from Ludwigsburg-based filtration specialty company MANN+HUMMEL at an awards event in Stuttgart, Germany.

LANXESS head of marketing and distribution, including for the Europe region, at the Semi-Crystalline Products business unit, Egbert von Platen (pictured centre) accepted the award on behalf of the company.

Egbert von Platen said the award is the result of the dedication of staff and its production facilities across the globe.

“Besides our product quality and innovative capability, our delivery reliability and flexibility were also singled out for praise,” he said.

“Thanks in part to our production facilities throughout the world, we’ve been able to ensure the reliable supply of material to our partners at all times, even under complex logistical conditions and tight deadlines.”  

LANXESS supplies MANN+HUMMEL with tailored Durethan polyamides, which are used in the fabrication of a wide range of plastic oil modules, fuel filter housings and oil filter wrenches.

Durethan and polybutylene terephthalate Pocan are manufactured in major economic region around the world. LANXESS production network includes plants in Wuxi (China), Krefeld-Uerdingen and Hamm-Uentrop (Germany), and shortly, in Jhagadia (India).

LANXESS is currently building a compounding facility with an annual capacity of 20,000 metric tons in Gastonia, North Carolina, U.S.A. This is scheduled to go on stream at the end of 2012.

The SCP business unit, headed by Dr. Michael Zobel, is part of the LANXESS Performance Polymers segment, which posted sales in fiscal 2010 of EUR$3.782 billion.

LANXESS employs approximately 16,100 staff across 30 countries and has 47 production sites worldwide. Its core business is the development, manufacturing and marketing of plastics, rubber, intermediates and specialty chemicals.
