Gobal pump manufacturer of KSB (Germany) has received a multi-million euro pump order for large seawater cooling plant in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
The order which was placed in March this year will see existing pumps at the cooling plant replaced with pumps of the same design but with a significantly higher output.
KBS said that each 18 metre tall, 70 tonne pump ordered will be driven by a low-speed, 4000 kW, 12-pole, 6,000 V high-voltage motor.
The single-flow tubular casing pumps with mixed flow impeller made of seawater-resistant duplex stainless steel is expected to deliver around 140,000 cubic metres of water per hour at a head of 58 metres.
The first pump will leave KSB’s Frankenthal factory for Qatar at the end of December 2011. The manufacturer says by the end of June 2012, all pump units will have left for their destination.
KBS assures that before shipment, every pump is tested on the pump its test facility at the Frankenthal factory.
The company says its was able to book the order partly due to its delivery time for the pumps and its long standing relationship with the plant stretching about sixteen years.
