Keppel Prince awarded SA wind farm contract

Keppel Prince Engineering, Australia’s largest manufacturer of wind towers, has won a $3.5 million contract to build six new turbines for the Waterloo wind farm.

Adelaide Now reports that the wind farm, which is located about 136 km north of Adelaide in South Australia's mid north region, is operated by Energy Australia. It is currently undergoing a $43 million upgrade, with Vestas Australia as the main contractor.

“Keppel Prince were able to capitalise on the fact they already had wind turbine towers in manufacture for Vestas Australia, our engineering and construction contractor, and therefore offer us reduced costs and faster delivery timeframes,” Waterloo Wind Farm general manager Steve Symons commented.

In August last year, Keppel Prince successfully tendered to supply 35 turbines to the Ararat wind farm in Victoria and consequently took on 30 to 40 new workers at its Portland site.
