Innovative technology provides efficiency solutions

A revolutionary advance in compressor technology, now available in Australia, is said to be able to provide major environmental benefits and substantial cost savings for industry.

The Quantima has been developed by world leading compressed air and gas system manufacturer CompAir and its oil-free technology and greater efficiency cuts energy costs by up to 25 percent and greenhouse emissions by 35 percent.

A number of leading businesses have already installed the technology and innovation will be introduced more widely to industry through an Australasian roadshow later this year and early in 2009.

Australia’s biggest milk processor, the Murray Goulburn Co-operative installed the Quantima system at its Leongatha plant in Victoria and in just five months, reduced energy and maintenance costs by $147,000 and cut carbon emissions by 1900 tonnes. These savings are expected to double in a full year.

CompAir’s Managing Director Gary Woodhead said with Australia’s carbon emissions trading scheme commencing in 2010, every tonne of carbon saved would be money in the bank.

“So as well as the energy and maintenance savings, industry will earn carbon credits and importantly, compress their carbon footprint,” Mr Woodhead said.

“This is the future and the technology benefits all compressed air users, large and small. For example, a 300kw Quantima could cut carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 2000 tonnes over 10 years.”

Quantima’s revolutionary compression assembly has only one moving part spinning in a magnetic field, providing reduced energy consumption and improved environmental performance. It is more compact and quieter than comparable compressors, and provides variable speed operations without a gearbox or oil.

Mr Woodhead said installing a 300kw Quantima had a carbon reducing impact equal to taking 75 cars off the road, or planting 16,000 trees.

Quantima’s revolutionary advances will be outlined at free CompAir business breakfasts in Melbourne, Sydney and Launceston in November, in Brisbane in February 2009, Adelaide in March and Perth and Auckland New Zealand in May.

A renowned international presenter will be hosting the business breakfasts and promises an entertaining and informative session.

Registration for the presentations is open now on the website www.quantimarevolution.com.au and those registering before 22 October will go into a draw to win one of seven new generation iPhones.

On registration, manufacturers are asked to provide some details of their current compressed air usage. CompAir will then do an assessment on the energy, greenhouse and cost savings that the Quantima can deliver and provide these at the breakfast presentation.

Mr Woodhead said Quantima provided the compressed air energy solution for carbon conscious industry.

“The real bonus for industry and the environment is that it provides a substantial reduction in carbon emissions with significantly lower energy and maintenance costs.

“That is the message we will be conveying at our national breakfast presentations,” Mr Woodhead said.
