From its beginnings in regional Queensland, custom orthotic manufacturer, iOrthotics has built its reputation on innovation, precision and sustainability.

Founded in 2009 by Dean Hartley, the company has transformed traditional podiatry practices through digitisation and advanced manufacturing, delivering 3D-printed orthotics at scale to clinics across Australia and internationally.

Its recognition as the winner of the Innovation in Health Technology award at the 2026 Endeavour Awards highlights a period of growth and impact for the business, which continues to push the boundaries of healthcare technology while representing the strength of Australian SMEs on a global stage.

“It’s an honour to be recognised among such a strong field of winners in both the Advanced Manufacturing Excellence and Innovation in Health Technology categories,” said Hartley. “We’re proud to represent Queensland and the incredible SMEs in our region. It’s an exciting time for our company, and this recognition really amplifies our credibility in the community.”

iOrthotics was founded out of frustration with conventional orthotic manufacturing processes, which were often slow, costly and wasteful. By embracing digital workflows and 3D printing early, the company was able to reimagine production, improving turnaround times while reducing material waste and enhancing clinical outcomes.

From servicing seven clinics domestically in 2011, the company now supports more than 300 across Australia and over 1,000 internationally, with operations spanning four locations, including two in the United States. More than 750,000 devices have been produced to date, reflecting both the scale and demand for its solutions.

“Our mission is to equip practitioners with innovative, research-driven orthotic solutions – combining clinical precision with responsible design to deliver better patient care,” said Hartley. “Our values of excellence, innovation, collaboration and sustainability drive everything we do.”

This commitment is reflected in the company’s latest product range, EnviroPoly and EnviroFoam, which reduce waste compared to traditional subtractive manufacturing methods. In 2025 alone, iOrthotics produced more than 200,000 custom orthotic devices, saving an estimated 180 tonnes of waste.

“We’re particularly proud of our EnviroPoly and EnviroFoam range of foot orthotics,” Hartley said. “It’s a product we believe genuinely builds a better tomorrow.”

Looking ahead, iOrthotics is focused on continued innovation and global expansion, with plans to further grow its presence in the United States, expand its material offerings and explore in-clinic 3D printing capabilities.

“As we scale, we’re determined to hold onto that Aussie adventurous spirit – in our people, our products, and everything we do,” said Hartley.
