Industry exports to all corners of the globe

Toyota wins the 2009 Exporter of the Year Award with highly commended going to Aunew Group Holding and SmartRider.

TOYOTA Motor Corporation Australia (Toyota Australia) is one of Toyota’s global manufacturing centres with a long term commitment to the domestic and export markets.

As well as its locally made Camry and Aurion models, Toyota Australia exports a wide range of passenger and commercial vehicles.

Toyota Australia is Australia’s largest vehicle exporter and in 2008 exported over 101,000 vehicles to over 20 different markets, including the Middle East (GCC – Gulf Cooperation Council) and the Oceania region with 70 % of locally manufactures cars exported overseas.

The export of left and right hand drive vehicles contributed over $1.7bn in revenue for Toyota Australia in 2008.

It is for these contributions to Australia’s export industry that saw the carmaker take out the 2009 Endeavour Awards Exporter of the Year Award.

Jon Ward, Manager Environmental Policy, Strategy and Environment, at Toyota accepted the award on behalf of Mike Rausa, Senior Divisional Manager, Manufacturing Support at Toyota at the gala awards dinner ceremony held last month.

Commenting on the carmaker’s great result at this year’s Endeavour Awards, Rausa told Manufacturers’ Monthly Toyota Australia is pleased to be recognised for its performance in its manufacturing operations.

“Recognition of our achivements encourages us and hopefully others to contribute to an innovative and sustainable manufacturing industry.

“To promote an innovative manufacturing business and a growing sustainable business, we strive to be good for the earth and society,” Rausa said.

“Manufacturing is a challenging business. However by striving for leading sustainable business practices, whether that is in safety, environment or production processes, we can complete globally.”

“These awards enable organisations to receive recognition for their achievements, but also form a significant and expanding visualisation of leadership and innovation in manufacturing – playing an important role in the progress towards sustainability,” Rausa said.

The carmaker says its export program has a significant impact on the Australian economy, contributing to the economy through direct and indirect employment, direct purchasing, capital investment and export revenue.

Highly Commended

With two Goods Administration (TGA) /GMP certified pharmaceuticals plants located in Sydney and Auckland, Aunew Group Holding, is the largest contract manufacturer in Australasia for the Chinese and other South East Asian health food market.

Aunew’s facilities and team were set up to meet the unique demand of exporting to the Asian market.

The company has been concentrating on contract manufacturing for Nutraceutical, health food, and skin care products.

The company’s ‘one stop’ services and specially designed facilities proved to be very attractive to a lot of migrant companies who wanted to build their own brand and export to Asian countries.

Following successful implementation and continually improvement of the services and facilities, Aunew had been in the best position to take advantage of the booming Asian economy during the last 10 years.

The company says its turnover and profit have increased by 1100%, and created many employment opportunities for Aunew as well as for the many Asian businesses it assisted.

Aunew said its number of employees has grown by 1000%over the past decade.

Most overseas marketing was done through the existing connection of it clients.

By offering many new migrants a complete and professional service from “business idea” to finished products under their own brand, Aunew and its customers have benefitted greatly from the customer’s overseas marketing resources with a ‘win-win’ co-operation.

The company is planning to open few more offices or Hubs in Shanghai and Shengzhen China in 2009.

Manufacturerd from marine grade steel, the SmartRider ‘Escape’ Stirrup is a two-part stirrup that disengages an inner bar when a rider falls, setting the rider free when in a position of danger.

It is proudly a local invention: designed and developed in Australia. The company’s design incorporates UV protection and can be produced in a vast array of colours. It also has the added provision of being able to be titled to a 180° angle allowing the system to double as a ladder, ideal for less mobile riders.

It was always anticipated that export would be the mainstay of SmartRiders business, as there are enormous untapped markets within the equine industry. SmartRider monitors the equine industry via web, industry seminars, industry journals, membership of associations.

SmartRider utilises innovative approaches to marketing activities including: video conferencing, Skype, email, voice and video emails, web communications for remote access and web streaming to communicate with clients.

The company has also invested in a user friendly, entertaining, informative website which is available to Broadband and Dial access. The company also uses professional marketing services to develop brand strategies, including logos, business cards, themes and marketing campaigns.

SmartRider exports to numerous European countries including Austria, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, UK, as well as Korea and NZ.

With its products used by the Royal Canadian, New York, Czech, NSW, Victorian and QLD Mounted Police, the company is currently developing a ‘Performance’ Breakaway Stirrup, aimed at the racing industry.
