Graphene-boosted PLA filament could help 3D printing speeds

Haydale Composite Solutions has announced that it will launch a graphene-enhanced PLA filament product at the TCT Birmingham show in September.

The company, a subsidiary of Haydale Graphene Industries, developed the feedstock in collaboration with Filamentprint and Fullerex, a sales agent a filament manufacturer respectively.

According to reports at 3ders.org of unnamed companies that tested the product (which comes in 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm varieties), there were benefits seen in first layer adhesion, z-axis strength and processing speed.

“Speed of print has historically been a barrier to wide scale take up of 3D printing,” Gerry Boyce, Haydale Composites Solutions managing director said.
