General Motors has issued four separate new recalls of
faulty vehicles which have been sold overseas.
As AAP reports, the recall affects about 89,000 models from
2012 to 2015. However, there have been no fatalities caused by the problems and
only one injury related to it.
The problems involve the failure of warning chimes that let
the driver know if a door is not closed or a seatbelt is fastened, as well as
air bag problems.
There are about 89,000 cars affected, including Silverados,
Sierras, Tahoes, Suburbans and Yukons from 2014-2015; Buick Veranos and
Chevrolet Camaros, Cruzes and Sonics from 2012; and some Chevrolet Sparks,
Buick Encores and Corvettes from 2013-2014.
Last week, 15 GM executives were sacked as a result of their
handling of a vehicle recall. In that case, faulty ignition switches in
vehicles led to the deaths of at least 13 people.
As Time reports, GM CEO Mary Barra, who released a report into
the deaths by US Attorney Anton Valukas, was not one of those sacked. However,
she accepted responsibility for the incident on behalf of the company.
