Industry Capability Network (ICN) is helping local companies better position themselves to win more work through a Queensland Government-subsidised Major Project Supplier Plan (MPSP) program.
ICN developed the MPSP program last year in conjunction with the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) to provide structured, fully-subsidised help to Queensland companies.
The program analyses a company’s business and makes recommendations as to how the company might position itself to meet the needs of the project owner or major contractor.
QMI Solutions’ CEO Jim Walker urged Northern Queensland companies to utilise the MPSP program to help them be more competitive when pitching for major contracts.
“Manufacturers should use the tool to help them assess their position and then to formulate a plan when responding to tenders,” Walker said.
“In order to help reduce the risk of Northern Queensland jobs moving offshore and to take advantage of new opportunities, we need to ensure small to medium sized manufacturers are equipped with the skills to be more improve performance, win new business and retain and train staff to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Australian manufacturing industry,” he said.
