First international metal fabrication graduates

A group of talented international students are reaping the benefits of studying at SkillsTech Australia after recently graduating from the Salisbury Training Centre with Engineering qualifications.

SkillsTech Australia Business Manager Keith Tonkies said it was a pleasure to see overseas students who were determined to qualify in the engineering sector.

“We are seeing an increase in interest from international candidates across various trade sectors such as metal fabrication as they see the benefits a trade qualification will bring to their career,” Mr Tonkies said.

“In this first group of international graduates we saw twelve students from diverse backgrounds including India and the Philippines complete their qualifications with passion and determination.”

Fernando Lim Junior moved to Australia from the Philippines with his family in 2010 to pursue his dream job as a qualified boilermaker and is now working full-time in his chosen field.

“I decided to study a Certificate III in Engineering as I had some knowledge from home and wanted to improve my skills in this field,” Fernando said.

“The training by SkillsTech Australia gave me both knowledge and confidence, which definitely prepared me for working in the real world.

“My success has motivated me to enrol in a Certificate IV in Engineering too.

“I’d like to thank SkillsTech Australia’s teachers as they were always there to help me learn, which was especially helpful as English is my second language.”
