Drives on show at Bulkex

SEW-Eurodrive will demonstrate its total solutions approach to the materials handling industry at BULKEX 2009.

The company will exhibit elements from its electronic, electro-mechanical and mechanical solution-set, which make up the complete end-to-end drive solution.

According to SEW-Eurodrive national product manager, industrial gear units, Ian Tribe, Australian industry is increasingly seeking out ‘one-stop’ drive solution providers.

“The demand for world-class drive solutions from a single supplier, from the gearbox through to the drive electronics, has never been greater,” he said.

“We work closely with the end-users to develop one of the country’s most comprehensive end-to-end drive solution-sets.”

At this year’s exhibition, SEW-Eurodrive will showcase a new family of locally assembled extended bearing distance (EBD) gear-units.

The EBD MC Compact series of helical and helical-bevel gear units has been engineered to absorb the high bending moments and axial forces that can occur in mixer and agitator applications.

Available in various mounting arrangements and configuration options, the Australian-assembled EBD MC Compact series is offered in five sizes, with torque ratings of 16 to 48kNm, suitable for motor powers up to 250 kW.

SEW-Eurodrive’s X-Series of industrial gear-units will also be on show at BULKEX 2009. Comprising 15 models–each with a different torque-rating–the SEW-Eurodrive X-Series boasts the finest torque-graduation on the market, allowing users to closely match an X-Series gear-unit to their application.

The ‘big brother’ of SEW-Eurodrive’s MC Compact industrial gear-units, the X-Series features helical and helical-bevel gear technologies, which deliver torques from 58,000 to 475,000Nm.

The X-Series is offered in a range of mounting arrangements, configuration options and user-specific requirements, making it ideally suited for a wide range of materials handling applications.

Visitors to BULKEX 2009 will also be able to get a close-up look at the latest addition to SEW-Eurodrive’s DR series of energy-efficient induction motors.

The DR motor series includes two variants rated to varying efficiency levels–‘minimum-efficiency’ (DRE) (spanning 0.75 to 45kW) and ‘premium efficiency’ (DRP) (spanning 0.75 to 37kW)–enabling users to address differing motor efficiency requirements.

Featuring optimised design and including advanced cast-copper rotor technology variants, the DR series provides the Australian materials handling industry with new levels of motor efficiency.

Other solutions on display at the exhibition include a selection of SEW-Eurodrive’s application inverters, decentralised drive systems and other drive electronics. and powerful connectivity required to support Australia’s advanced materials handling applications.

SEW-Eurodrive will be on Stand Number 1 at BULKEX 2009 which is held at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Southbank, 4 to 6 August, 2009.
