Detmold expands local packaging manufacturing base

Detmold Group has signed an agreement to acquire Custom Cartons, a privately-owned Australian carton packaging business. The purchase will be completed on July 1.

Custom Cartons operates a carton converting facility in Adelaide, located adjacent to Detmold’s global head office in Brompton. The acquisition provides Detmold with a valuable customer base and industry presence, as well as expanding Detmold’s local manufacturing and core product capability.

All existing Custom Cartons management and staff will be transferred to the Detmold Group, with all employment terms and benefits being retained.

“From a strategic perspective Custom Cartons is a welcome addition to the Detmold Group both in terms of its local customer base, and its complimentary manufacturing capability,” said Detmold Group Executive Chairman, Rodney Detmold.

“This plant will supplement our offshore carton production facilities, benefitting our customers through improved service and a broader product range. This acquisition builds on our commitment to local Australian manufacturing, in order to continue to provide our customers with superior quality and service.”

“Detmold’s existing customers will gain from additional carton converting capability and the acquisition will benefit Custom Cartons’ clients by providing access to additional capability and an expanded product range. We are also pleased that we are able to secure the employment futures of the entire Custom Cartons workforce.”

Custom Cartons will continue to trade under its current brand and from its existing premises, as a division of the global Detmold Group.
