Hobart’s Incat has won a contract worth over $100 million to build a fast ferry for a Danish ferry operator.
The ABC reports that the contract for operator Mols-Linien is timetabled for delivery of the 112-metre fast ferry in early 2017.
Of the number of additional employees needed, managing director Simon Carter told the ABC, "It's difficult to pinpoint an exact number, but it's certainly going to be a significant expansion in the workforce over the next couple of years.
"It'll be more than a hundred."
The Hobart Mercury reports that it would be the fifth ferry delivered to the Danish organisation. Incat has two ferries on the way to the UK, and last month secured a $50 million contract to build six ferries for Sydney’s inner harbour.
The Sydney ferries will be delivered over late-2016 through 2017.
