SEVERAL prominent Czech companies with be exhibiting at this year’s National Manufacturing Week (NMW) to be held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre beginning next week.
One of the companies to be exhibiting at the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade’s stand 2115, include Skoda Auto, one of the Czech Republic’s largest and well known manufacturers.
Jiri Janicek, Consul Commercial, from the Consulate-General of the Czech Republic has said he invites NMW visitors to come to the Ministry’s stand to learn about opportunities to work with Czech companies in the areas of science, research and engineering development.
The Czech Republic has a long tradition of advanced engineering, research and development, and as the country has entered the EU, the range of trade and investment opportunities has grown.
These include growing opportunities for Australian business in IT (smart card applications, e-government, e-business), automotive industry (components and spare parts), wine, consumer goods and tourism.
Defence is also another potential export growth opportunity for local industry.
Procurement from abroad is crucial for the Czech Republic’s military development as it does not produce telecommunications equipment, nonferrous metals, plastics, chemicals, transport machinery, or specialized metalworking equipment specifically designed for military use.
Visitors to NMW are invited to attend a special information session and cocktail party hosted by the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade on Wednesday, May 13.
The event, which will take place on the Ministry’s stand and will run from 3pm – 5pm, will feature Professor Václavík from the Czech Research Institute, who will talk about issues related to the transfer of technology.
