Compressor company sets five-year safety record

AUSTRALIAN compressed air specialist, Champion Compressors, has recently chalked-up five years without a ‘lost-time injury’.

This means that for half a decade, all Champion Compressors’ work places–both its own manufacturing facility and its customers’ sites–have remained safe and free from serious injuries.

According to the company, this significant safety milestone highlights its world-class manufacturing excellence, and reinforces its reputation as one of the country’s most safety-conscious and responsible employers.

Champion Compressors Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Coordinator, Simon Meyrick said the company nurtures a culture of safety among its employees and considers this its priority.

“A safety-conscious and confident workforce is inherently efficient, which results in more cost-effective products for the end user,” Meyrick explained.

The compressor company has adopted a three-pronged safety strategy, implementing initiatives which target safety in the final products, corporate administration and field services.

Its products have safety actually built-in, while prudent management directives ensure best-practice methods are employed on the shop floor.

In the field services sector, the compressor’s service department targets safe operations, even in the most unfamiliar environments. It is this company-wide safety culture that sets Champion Compressors apart from its competitors.

According to Meyrick, Champion is achieving these high standards of safety by empowering its staff through regular training, re-enforcement and equality among its employees.

“This directive comes all the way from senior management and drives the company’s pursuit of safety awareness,” he added.
