INTERMEC has recently announced that ISV partner Transtech Driven (www.transtechdriven.com) has been officially certified as an IAP Service Provider, making it one of only two organisations within Australia to achieve such certification and the first to couple IAP certification with advanced driver fatigue management, as well as many rich transport fleet and goods tracking applications.
The Intelligence Access Program (IAP) allows transport operators to gain greater heavy vehicle access to Australia’s road network, in return for government monitored compliance with agreed access conditions by an IAP Service Provider.
With IAP compliance set to become compulsory under the law throughout Australia on July 1st 2009, many transport operators have expressed concerns over the costs of installing the IAP in-vehicle unit (IVU) and operation-wide compliant hardware.
However, those operators already using Intermec technology within their transport and logistics operations can rest easy knowing that the IVU is already fully compliant with the Intermec CN3, which will halve the cost of installing IAP technology in the near future.
The Intermec CN3 is a fully IAP-compatible mobile computer, and is ideally suited for all areas of large-scale transport and logistics operations.
