AN alliance has been signed between bolt tensioning company Technofast Industries and fluid and gas sealing business Klinger Limited to better facilitate a complete jointing solution for heavy maintenance projects.
“The goal with all shutdowns involving flanges and joints is leak free start-ups. The Klinger-Technofast alliance not only offers the no-leaks benefit, but also savings in labour costs and machinery downtime,” Technofast business development manager Joe Kelly, said.
“Klinger has worked successfully on a number of closure projects with Technofast and the integrated solution we provide has been proven to work. It’s now time to formalise our business partnership,” Len Thompson, regional sales manager of Klinger said.
The jointing procedure used by the two companies involves hydraulic tensioning of multiple stud bolts in unison to ensure that even pressure is applied around the flange while the nuts are tightened, thereby eliminating leaks.
“Hydraulic tensioning stretches the stud bolt, utilising the elasticity of the metal. This eliminates the frictional forces associated with torque tightening, ensures the correct tension is applied, and improves the longevity of the stud,” Kelly said.
The closure technique has been successfully used in many heavy industry applications.
The company’s mechanical jointing solutions are said to be saving customers many thousands of dollars during scheduled and emergency maintenance programs.
Critical bolting times can be kept to a minimum, reducing downtime and increasing production, while accurate bolt loading eliminates the need for re-work.
