Chinese manufacturing continues growth

Further signs of an economic recovery in China emerged last week following reports its manufacturing sector expanded for a second consecutive month.

China’s latest purchasing manager’s index – which monitors output, orders and other factors – rose to 53.5 from 52.4 in March. A reading above 50 indicates an expansion.

Most of the data out of China now is starting to be more positive rather than the mixed signals coming out of the country a couple of months ago.

Many commentators now believe the worst might be over for China, the world’s third-biggest economy, and signs of improvement in US consumer spending is welcome news.
