Cheap forklifts up for grabs

Over 70 new and used forklifts valued at over $1.5 million are up for auction at GraysOnline after Forklift Australia went into liquidation on 7 April 2009.

Under instructions from Meertens Chartered Accountants, GraysOnline is selling over 20 new Feeler forklifts, a variety of older forklifts (including some with over 7 Tonnes capacity), walkie stacker and reach trucks, and sweepers and scrubbers.

“Forklifts Australia suffered a 74% decline in its turnover as a direct result of the global financial crisis,” says Austin Taylor a Partner at Meertens Chartered Accountants.

“Being a service supplier, it was quickly affected by the sharp slowdown in demand.”

Forklift Australia had three main divisions while in operation: new imported Feeler forklifts from China offered for sale; forklift rentals; and repairs.

As such, a large variety of forklifts are included in this online auction which started Thursday, 28 May 2009 and closes at 3pm on 3 June 2009.

“With the Governments recently released Investment Incentives such as a tax depreciation allowance before 30 June 2009, this is the perfect time to buy well priced, excellent quality forklifts”, says Taylor.

GraysOnline’s General Manager for South Australia, Ben Roden, expects that there will be considerable interest in the auction:

“Being an unreserved auction with bids starting at just $9, we anticipate there to be Australia-wide participation — from small businesses to larger companies alike.”
