A Japanese car parts manufacturer and its Australian subsidiary have been accused of fixing prices on the cost of wiring in Toyota Camrys.
WAtoday reports the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission started legal action against the companies in the Federal Court of South Australia this week.
It claims Yazaki and its subsidiary Australian Arrow colluded on ''their responses to requests for quotations issued by Toyota Motor Corporation for the supply of wire harnesses''.
The ACCC also claims Yazaki and a competitor would agree on prices before proving quotes to car manufacturers.
According to WAtoday wire harnesses hold all of the wiring in the body of a car, and each vehicle contains around $2,000 of the equipment.
