Ferno Australia has acquired the Australian subsidiary of German medical technology company Weinmann.
The global technology giant specialises in the manufacture of cutting edge diagnostic, therapeutic, and life-saving devices for home care, and emergency medicine.
Ferno Australia Managing Director Scott West said the acquisition of Weinmann’s Australian operations was a strategic move to continue to provide Australian customers with access to Weinmann’s growing range of superior medical technology.
“The Weinmann range complements Ferno Australia’s existing product lines in the field of advanced rescue and emergency equipment, allowing Ferno to now provide a comprehensive suite of products that address the need for high quality patient care”.
Weinmann products will continue to be manufactured in Hamburg Germany but will be supplied to the Australian market from Ferno Australia’s Brisbane-based warehouse.
Ferno Australia will continue to offer the range of timely support services previously provided by Weinmann Australia.
To ensure a seamless transition Ferno Australia will employ Weinmann General Manager, Michael Komitschuk, who will take on a new role in Ferno of National Product Manager for the Weinmann range.
Despite the economic downturn, Ferno Australia has continued its growth strategy of product expansion through home grown innovation at its research and development centres in Brisbane and Perth, as well as the acquisition of new business lines.
The strategy has proven successful, with the business reporting a 6.2% sales growth for first quarter 2009.
