Brightstar exclusive supply chain provider to new NZ TV provider

Wireless distributor and services provider Brightstar has been appointed as the exclusive supply chain provider for New Zealand’s new pre-pay and on-demand TV provider, IGLOO.

Under the agreement, Brightstar NZ will provide a complete end-to-end supply chain solution for IGLOO’s TV Set Top Boxes, including fulfilment, inventory and channel management services.

IGLOO NZ general manager Chaz Savage said Brightstar was chosen because the company understood and was able to articulate a solution which met IGLOO’s needs.

“[T]hey’ve continued to step up with further innovation at every turn, recommending and designing first class supply chain systems and services that meet our needs,” Savage said in a statement.

According to Brightstar NZ general manger Jamie Cormack, the company has been able anticipate and deliver on all of IGLOO’s requirements as it moves to enter the NZ market.

“Brightstar is the only company in New Zealand offering end-to-end outsourced supply chain services, from strategic sourcing and inventory management, right through the value chain to retail channel relationships and execution,” Cormack said in the same statement.

Brightstar improve the execution of their core business strategy by managing the customer relationship, increasing customer satisfaction and optimizing the performance of their supply chains.

IGLOO is a joint venture between government-owned broadcaster TVNZ and New Zealand’s largest pay TV provider SKY Television Networks to provide pre-pay and on-demand TV for New Zealand households.

The venture was created to coincide with the staggered shut down of  analogue TV in New Zealand occurring over 2012 and 2013, with an estimated 300,000 households nationwide requiring an upgrade to their TVs to be able to receive digital TV (which IGLOO STBs provide).
