Botany factory fire caused by accelerant: Police

Mascot police are looking for the culprit of a suspicious fire set overnight in a factory on William Street in Botany, New South Wales.

Emergency services were reportedly called to the factory at 11:30pm last night after reports of fire inside the building.

Mascot Police are looking into the possibility of accelerant being poured on lounges in the factory and set alight.

NSW Police Media told Manmonthly.com.au that no injuries were reported, however police were unable to get inside the building at the time the report was filed.

The property suffered “extensive heat, smoke and water damage”, a police report said.

Officers from Fire and Rescue NSW were able to extinguish the fire, which was reportedly lit after someone forced their way into one of the factory’s roller doors.

Mascot Police were unable to name the company residing at the factory for privacy reasons.
