As a long-term sponsor of the Endeavour Awards, BDO highlights the importance of innovation, people and digital transformation in Australian manufacturing.

BDO’s long-standing involvement in Australia’s manufacturing sector has shown the company both the scale of the opportunity ahead and the complexity businesses face in navigating it. As the national leader of manufacturing and wholesale at BDO in Australia, Ryan Pollett, said the company works closely with organisations across the full spectrum of the industry – from family-owned enterprises to large, globally active companies – supporting them through growth, transformation and change.

As manufacturing remains a cornerstone for BDO, the firm’s approach is grounded in a combination of deep sector expertise and practical, hands-on support, spanning audit, tax, advisory and consulting. This integrated model enables manufacturers to improve performance, manage risk and invest in both capability and people, while adapting to an increasingly competitive and fast-moving landscape.

That same commitment underpins BDO in Australia’s continued sponsorship of the Endeavour Awards. Now in its sixth year supporting the program, the organisation sees the awards as an important platform to recognise and elevate innovation across the sector.

“BDO has proudly sponsored the Endeavour Awards since 2021, and now in our sixth year, the motivation remains the same – to back Australian manufacturers who are driving growth through innovation,” said Pollett. “Manufacturing is central to Australia’s economic future, and recognising those pushing boundaries helps lift the entire sector.”

This alignment between BDO’s purpose and the values of the awards is clear. At its core, the organisation is focused on empowering people and helping businesses realise their potential – principles that closely mirror the achievements celebrated through the Endeavour Awards.

“BDO’s purpose is built around empowering people and realising possibilities,” Pollett said. “We work alongside manufacturers to support financial performance, people development and market expansion, the exact qualities these awards celebrate.”

Across the industry, Pollett points to a number of key trends shaping the future of manufacturing in Australia. Chief among them is the increasing adoption of digital technologies and data-driven decision-making, alongside a broader shift towards more agile and responsive operating models.

“We’re seeing manufacturers increasingly embrace digital transformation, data-driven decision-making and smarter operating models,” he said. “What’s most exciting is how technology is being combined with investment in people and culture.”

These changes are helping position Australian manufacturers to compete more effectively on a global stage, while also strengthening resilience in the face of ongoing disruption. For BDO, supporting clients through this transition is a critical part of its role within the sector.

Beyond strategy and operations, Pollett emphasises the importance of recognition and community within manufacturing. For those acknowledged through the Endeavour Awards, he sees the moment as both a milestone and a platform for continued growth.

“Congratulations on being recognised,” he said. “Every growth story is different, and that diversity of thinking is what makes Australian manufacturing so strong. Keep backing your ideas, investing in your people, and sharing your story as you’re shaping the future of the industry.”

He also encourages broader participation in the awards program, noting the value it provides not only to individual businesses, but to the sector as a whole.

“If you’re considering nominating or attending the Endeavour Awards, we encourage you to get involved,” Pollett said. “Nominating is a valuable opportunity to reflect on your growth journey, and attending connects you with peers who understand the realities of manufacturing.”

As the industry continues to evolve, initiatives such as the Endeavour Awards play a key role in showcasing what is possible. Through its ongoing support, BDO remains committed to helping Australian manufacturers realise those possibilities and drive the sector forward.
