AWD Engineer wins national Young Achiever Award

Brodie Ryan, System Safety Platform & Delivery Lead for the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Alliance, won the Australian Industry Defence Network (AIDN) National Young Achiever Award at a gala dinner in Canberra last night.

Brodie holds a key leadership position within the AWD system safety program. As the key point of contact between the AWD Systems Safety Team and Spanish designer Navantia’s Systems Safety Team, he is responsible for a number of areas of the System Safety Program. As Delivery Lead, he is also responsible for support the successful delivery of the AWD Safety Case to the Commonwealth.

His ability to successfully build an international business relationship across a complex contract boundary made him a stand-out among the judges.

“We are immensely proud of Brodie’s achievement. His work with the AWD is a testament to the excellence of our nation’s defence industry. It is important to recognise our industry’s highly skilled young people as a key to an innovative knowledge economy into the future. It is imperative that we don’t lose these skills” DTC CEO Chris Burns said.

Brodie said, “I am honoured and humbled to receive such as prestigious award”.

This is the latest accolade for Brodie, who won the Defence Teaming Centre Young Achiever Award in May 2015.
