The Australian defence industry’s work supply is going strong thanks to the government’s global supply chain program, says Minister for Defence Material and Science Greg Combet.
His comments come after a local company, Production Parts has recently won work to supply rubber pedal kits for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet under the program.
“I offer my congratulations to Melbourne-based Production Parts on winning this work,” Combet said.
“Production Parts won the hotly contested competition over several international suppliers, and this will place them in a sound position to compete for more opportunities in the future.
The contract provides Production Parts with options for continued work on future orders Boeing may receive from the U.S. Navy or other international customers.
As an early participant in the program, the company was identified as a potential Boeing supplier through Boeing’s Office of Australian Industry Capability, which works with the Defence Material Organisation to assist Australian defence suppliers with entry into Boeing’s global supply chain.
“This win for Production Parts demonstrates not only the global competitiveness of Australian companies but the ongoing success of the Government’s Global Supply Chain program,” Combet said.
The Government’s Global Supply Chain program has already provided Australian industry with contracts totalling over $50 million.
